WATERJET CUTTING OF INCONEL LOCK PLATES FOR THE GAS TURBINE INDUSTRY IN PENNSYLVANIA

As part of our full range of machining expertise and knowledge, Schenke Tool Co. uses a waterjet cutting process to manufacture these lock plates for a client in the gas turbine industry. Working from a base of Inconel blanks, this is a one-pass waterjet cutting operation, cutting the 1.25″ thick plate to its 4.5″ x 3″ dimensions as well as a precision 0.60″ slot. Due to the precision requirements of the product and the waterjet cutting process, we carry out a first article inspection using micrometers, calipers, and gage blocks, to ensure the correct size and ±.001″ taper tolerance.

Our typical order from our Pennsylvania client is from 20 – 400, which we fulfill within 2 – 3 weeks of receiving the 718 Inconel material. The pieces are shipped with a natural finish and used in our customer’s gas turbine plant.
