At Schenke Tool Co., our investment in robotic welding cells allows us to create high quality assemblies using automated processes that deliver consistent, repeatable results. We invited a
prospective client in the lifting industry to our plant to get a first hand look at the complexity of work we were producing on a routine basis. Due to our capabilities and experience, they awarded
us the contract to produce the weldment highlighted here as a proof-of-concept prototype.
This assembly consisted of customer-supplied components, although Schenke Tool Company will be supplying all of the needed components for future orders. We took a strategic approach to fixturing
to keep pricing competitive on a short run order. The intricate design required multiple welding fixtures to accommodate the moving parts and to guarantee precise alignment. We designed & built the
welding fixtures in-house. The accuracy of our robotic systems enabled us to keep tolerances to within ± 0.005" on the weldment, which featured overall dimensions of 6" in length x 6" in width x 2" in height.
After thorough inspection, we conducted additional testing to ensure the integrity of the welds and accuracy of the assembled workpiece. The ingenuity of our process combined with the speed and
efficiency of welding robots allowed us to produce this weldment on specification, on time, and on budget.
